Oct 25th , what a night. Treated to Boss Hogg and Bryan Adams in one night. This has lead to a band comparison.....
Venues - Boss Hogg went for the Branston Arms arena , tickets limited to a 40 person capacity (fire regs etc,did used to get 800 in in the old days).Everybody moved to gold circle at no cost 10/10. Bryan went for the Notts FM arena,3000 standing 6000 sitting, far too big and far too expensive at £37.50 a ticket 6/10. Lead singers - Matt, hot toddy in hand,a little sweaty from the 'man flu',did brill 10/10. Bryan, lights went down, excitment,Bryan appears in the middle of the standing crowd and bangs out 3 acoustic numbers, makes his way to the stage shaking hands and hugging ladies, way too flash 7/10. Guitar - Si,centre of attention for the rock chicks, never shys away from the long solo, infact, during Comfortably numb I'm sure I could have nipped over to the Uxbridge, had a couple of crafty beers, returned and Si would have still been there, leg up and still going at it (the solo I mean) 10/10. Keith Scott - quality but caught between short licks and long solo's and too old 6/10. Bass - Steve, lean, bouncy, smiley and sings but the roady had forgot his mic 10/10. Norm Fisher, solid, sang with Bryan on a couple of tracks,a little portly and dull 6/10. Keyboards - Dave, unavailable for this gig, think he was on a reunion of a 70's supergroup he once collaborated with. Can vouch for solid no frills playing though 10/10. Gary Briet, fair player, bit flash,no need for that 5/10. Drums - Charl,a shining example, young, keen, accurate.A prominant young player now sharing her skills with her very own drum clinic, perhaps Mickey ought to drop in,only £8 for half an hour 1 to 1 11/10. Mickey Curry, sorry, you were never in the running, did ok but look at the competition 6/10. Boss Hogg 61 points , Bryan Adams band 36 points. No surprise there then ?!?!?! Check the Boss Hogg gig list, get yourself down the boozer, have a few beers and enjoy probably the best band in the world !!!!!!
